II. Activities

25.10.2015 – Assignment of 7 monthly scholarships (subsistence), 9 months per year (October-June) for 3 students of the squad leaders and non-commissioned officers schools, 3 cadets of the force academies (land, air, naval) and one Acad student of Military Technique.

28.06-3.07 2016 – Assignment of 7 scholarships in the form of a trip to Italy for six Military High School students and one accompanying teaching staff member

16-31 July 2016 – Delivery of the diplomas and prizes of the “General Ştefan Guşă Foundation” to the graduates who are heads of diploma of the Military Technical Academy, of the Academies: Land Forces “Nicolae Bălcescu” Sibiu; Naval Forces “Mircea the Old Man” Constanta; of the Air Force “Henri Coandă” Braşov (4 prizes of 1500 lei /350 Eu) and of the Military Schools of Squad Leaders and Non-Commissioned Officers: of the Land Forces, “Basarab I” – Pitesti; of the Air Force “Traian Vuia” – Boboc, of the Naval Force “Amiral Murgescu” – Constanta. (3 prizes of 1200 lei/ 275 Eu).

June – July 2016 – Assignment of the Foundation Awards to the first three military athletes ranked in the final phase of the Military Sports Games

The Feast of the Ascension of the Lord – Heroes’ Day

Thursday, June 9, 2016, on the occasion of Ascension Day-Heroes’ Day, the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, in collaboration with the military garrison of Buzău – Command of the 2nd infantry division “Getica”, organized a military and religious ceremony with honour guard and brass band, with laying of wreaths at the monument and tomb of general Ştefan Guşă situated in the church of his foundation in the village of Spătaru, commune of Costeşti. 300 commemorative packages were distributed to the participants.

They laid wreaths: a delegation of the family and of the General Ştefan Guşă Foundation, composed of generals Găman C-tin, Spiroiu Niculae – former colleagues – and Mr. Costin Vrabie; Major General Foca, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division “Getica”, Section of the Cult of Heroes, Prefecture of Buzău County, County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Police Inspectorate of Buzău, Municipality of Costeşti and General School. The inhabitants of the village, the reserve officers, the relatives, as well as the elected mayor of the commune of Buzau participated.

Trip to Italy 2016

Between July 3 and 8, 2016 the group of students of the National Military Colleges, beneficiaries of the prize “Trip to Italy” of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation, took part in a trip. The group was composed of students: student POP Bianca and student ENACHE Filimon-Raducu, of the National Military College “Mihai Viteazul”; Student Mrs. CONDRUZ Iulia – Maria and student Mr. ROSU Onisim, of the National Military College “Dimitrie Cantemir”; Pupil Mrs. CALISEVICI Maria-Sabina and pupil Mr. VOLOSEN Alex-Andrei of the National Military College “Stefan cel Mare” under the direction of Prof. Carmen-Cecilia ROMAN. Cultural and tourist objectives of the cities of Milan and Venice were visited.

Monday, September 19, 2016 the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation awarded the Diploma of Excellence and the Prize for Scientific Research in the amount of 1.500 lei to Mr. Colonel Prof. Dr. Iulian MARTIN of the National Defence “Carol I” University, author of the work “Reasoning and argumentation in the planning of operations” The prize and the diploma were delivered by the director of the Foundation and referent Mr. Costin VRABIE.

During the ceremonies dedicated to Romanian Army Day, a delegation of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation – general Niculae Spiroiu, lieutenant. Alexandru Cristian and the attaché Costin Vrabie – laid a wreath at the Monument of the Heroes at the National Defence University “Carol I”.

History Contest 2016

On November 29, 2016, the Marshal Alexandru Averescu Foundation, in collaboration with the Cultural Council of Buzău County, organized the eighth edition of the Historical Knowledge Contest for students and high schools of the High Schools and Higher Education Institutions of Buzău County, dedicated to the National Day of Romania – December 1.

On this occasion the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation offered to the winners of the contest and to the teachers of the jury 27 book titles consisting of 131 volumes of military and socio-political history. The inventory value of the books offered was 2500 lei

Commemoration of the heroes of December 1989 at Spătaru

On December 22, 2016, at the foundation of general Ştefan Guşă in the village of Spataru, there took place the military and religious ceremony dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Romanian revolution of December 1989, at which the Foundation, the prefect of the county, the commander of the garrison of Buzău, the association “Cultul Eroilor”, the municipality of Costeşti and the general school “General Ştefan Guşă” of the village of Spătaru laid wreaths of flowers. On this occasion the students of the General School of the village received from the Foundation packages with provisions, sweets and fruit. The Christmas packages (300) were also received by the soldiers of the guard, the musical band and the inhabitants of the village who participated in the ceremony. One student of the school “General Ştefan Guşă” recited the verses written by general Guşă.

Scholarships of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation 2016-2017

On November 12, 2016 letters were sent informing the scholarship students and the military students of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation for the academic year 2016-2017, the amount of the stay scholarships and the dates on which they will be paid. The letters were accompanied by presentation leaflets of the Foundation. Monthly stay allowance granted is 300,00 lei.

On November 21 there was paid through postal order the first tranche of scholarships in the amount of 900 lei, for a total of 6.300 lei, to the following 7 military scholarship holders of the academic year 2016-2017:

Saturday, February 28 this year, there took place in Vatra Dornei, from February 23 to 28, 2015, the closing ceremony of the phase of the Ministry of National Defence of the Applied Military Winter Sports Competitions for the Training Units. Between June 28 and July 4, 2015 there took place the group of students of the National Military Colleges, beneficiaries of the prize “Trip to Italy” of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation. The group was formed by the students: BÎRZAN Diana-Elena, CREŢU Cosmin-Emanuel, STANCIU Maria-Angelica, GHEORGHE Abel, ANDRONIC Antonela and DOMIDE Adrian-Alex, under the guidance of Prof. Carmen-Cecilia ROMAN. Prizes and diplomas of the heads of promotion 2015

The “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation awarded DIPLOMAS of EXCELLENCE and money PRIZES to the heads of the promotion of the graduates “KING FERDINAND-150” 2015 of the military educational institutions of the Ministry of National Defence.

They received diplomas and prizes for a total value of 9.600,00 lei: the head of the promotion of the Military Technical Academy, Slt (adv) Ioana-Carmen BOGLIŞ; head of the promotion of the Land Forces Academy “Nicolae Bălcescu”, Slt Nicoleta MIHAIU, head of the promotion of the Military Aeronautics Academy “Henri Coandă” Slt Mariana-Adriana COMĂNOAIA and Ensign eng. Cătălina-Bianca CUCU, head of the promotion of the Naval Academy “Mircea cel Bătrân”.

Diplomas and recognitions in the value of 1200 lei each were awarded to the heads of promotion, military squad leaders and non-commissioned officers of the profile schools of the Armed Forces as follows: MM cls V-a Doru-Paul RUS, head of the promotion of the Military School of Military Squad Leaders and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Land Forces “Bessarabia I”; MM cls. 5th Mariana-Ramona DUMITRAŞCU, person responsible for the promotion of the Military School of the Majors and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Air Force “Traian Vuia” and MM Class V Laura-Maria RUSI, person responsible for the promotion of the Military School of Military Majors of the naval forces “Admiral Ion Murgescu”.

The above-mentioned recognitions were conferred on the occasion of the graduation ceremonies held on July 23 (Technical Academy) and July 31, 2015, in the garrisons of residence, by generals and reserve officers, former colleagues and close collaborators of general Ştefan Guşă or officers and generals of the General Staffs of the Forces: Admiral Dorin Dănilă (Constanța), general Niculae Spiroiu (Military Technical Academy), general Ilie Dragomir (Pitesti Garrison), general Nicolae Băhnăreanu (Sibiu Land Academy).

On December 22, 2015, at the foundation of general Ştefan Guşă in the village of Spataru, there took place the military and religious ceremony dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Romanian revolution of December 1989, at which the Foundation, the family, the prefect of the county, the commander of the garrison of Buzău, the association “Cultul Eroilor”, the national liberal party, the municipality of Costesti and the general school “General Ştefan Guşă” of the village of Spătaru laid wreaths of flowers. On this occasion the students of the General School of the village received from the Foundation packages with provisions, sweets and fruit. Thursday, May 29, 2014 – Heroes’ Day, the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, in collaboration with the military garrison of Buzău – Command of the 2nd infantry division “Getica”, organized a military and religious ceremony with guard and brass band, with laying of wreaths at the monument and tomb of general Ştefan Guşă situated in the church of his foundation in the village of Spătaru, commune of Costeşti. The wreaths were laid by a delegation of the family and of the General Ştefan Guşă Foundation (Gl (r) Niculae Spiroiu, Lieutenant Alexandru Cristian and Mr. Costin Vrabie); by the military personnel of the Command of the 2nd Infantry Division “Getica”; by the representatives of the county branch of the Association Cult of Heroes; by the employees of the prefecture of Buzău county, of the regional inspectorate for emergency situations, of the police inspectorate of Buzău, of the municipality and of the general school of the commune of Costesti. The inhabitants of the village, the reserve officers and the relatives participated in the ceremony.

Prizes for the class leaders 2014 – Announcement – This year the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation awarded DIPLOMAS of EXCELLENCE and money PRIZES to the class leaders of the graduation class 2014 “Constantin Brâncoveanu-300” of the military educational institutions of the Ministry of National Defence.

Vatra Dornei – Applied military winter competitions and winter sports

From February 20 to 25 the final phase of the winter competitions of military sports and winter sports for the combat units of the Ministry of National Defence took place in Vatra Dornei. On this occasion there were delivered the Diploma of Excellence and the Prize of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation in the amount of 1000,00 lei (235 euro) to the competitor with the most valuable performances, the non-commissioned officer Cătălin Suciu of the Bg 81 Mountain Hunters, Bistrița. At the beginning of July, at the end of similar summer competitions, the Foundation will award the same honours to the best military sportsman. The diploma and the prize were established in conformity with the Regulation on diplomas, prizes and scholarships of the “General Stefan Gusa” and will be awarded annually.

During the events organized to celebrate Romanian Army Day, a delegation of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation, composed of General Niculae Spiroiu, Colonel Corneliu Cristescu and Eng Andrei Cristian, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Carol Park.

On November 17 and 18, 2012, the “Mareșal Alexandru Averescu” Foundation organized in Buzău the annual history contest for pupils and students on the occasion of the National Day of Romania.

For the third consecutive year, the “General Ștefan Gusa” Foundation sponsored the event, in kind, with 70 volumes (14 titles) of works of history and literature. The list is attached below. .

On November 17 and 18, 2012, there took place in the garrison of Buzau the third annual examination of historical contest for pupils and students organized by the “Maresal Alexandru Averescu Foundation”. The support for the event by the “General :Stefan Gusa Foundation” consisted in 70 history books (list attached below).

– Assignment of ten monthly “General Stefan Gusa” study scholarships, as follows:

– Three study scholarships to one pupil of each of the three military high school colleges;

– Three study scholarships for one pupil of each of the Military Schools of Non-Commissioned Officers and Masters of the Armed Forces;

– Donation of: food, maintenance materials, stationery articles and toys for the Association Archdeacon “St. Stephen” (Ghencea Parish);

– Organization of a trip to Italy during the summer holidays, as a prize for one pupil of each of the military high schools, at the end of completion of the 2nd or 3rd year of high school. Criteria of selection and nomination in conformity with those approved for the year 2010;

– Realization and supply of documentary material for the section “Personalities in uniform” of the publication “Military Observer”.

– Sponsorship of editorial activities: elaboration, edition and printing of studies and of books of military history and memoir literature, printing of journals of the associations of military personnel – “The cult of heroes”, “War veterans”, “Reserve Military Personnel”, and more exactly of one book – “Military Attachés Report” Vol. VI (report 2010) – and of one issue of “Heroic Romania”;

– Support/sponsorship University of Pitesti for the organization of the National Session of scientific communications of the students of the Faculty of History – “Student research in the 3rd millennium” and of the annual Session of scientific communications of the students of the Faculty of Socio-Human Sciences;

– Collection and selection of documentary material for the realization of a documentary on general Stefan Gusa;

– Common projects in collaboration with the institutes with which there are signed agreements or partnerships in order to support the scientific-educational activities in the military field.

April 2011 – In the week 11 – 16 April this year the last tranche – relating to the period May – July – of the “General Stefan Gusa” study scholarships, was paid to ten scholarship holders, pupils at military high school colleges and Military Schools of Military Masters and Non-Commissioned Officers, and students at the Military Technical Academy, the Land Forces Academy, the Aeronautics Academy and the Naval Academy.

In the week of April 11-16 this year, the last installment, for the months of May-July, of the “General Ştefana Guşă” subsistence scholarships was paid to the 10 scholarship holders, students of military high schools, of the Military Schools of Military Foremen and Non-Commissioned Officers and students of the Military Technical Academy and of the Academies of the Land Forces, the Air Force and the Naval Forces.
Also, Diplomas of Excellence and the “General Ştefan Guşă” Award worth 2000.00 lei were awarded for the most valuable original research papers in the field of defense and national security, presented at the 7th Scientific Conference STRATEGII XXI, with the theme “The Universe of Military Science” organized by the “Carol I” National Defense University on April 14-15. Beneficiaries designated by the Scientific Secretariat of the Conference were Lieutenant Colonel, Lecturer, PhD Ion CĂLIN, author of the paper “Information Management of the Force Group with an Operational Role in Joint Operations” and Research Assistant Cristina BOGZEANU from the Center for Strategic Defense and Security Studies, author of the article “Progress and Obstacles in the European Integration Process of the Western Balkan States”, published in the journal “Strategic Impact” no. 1-2010

05.05.2011 – The “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation donated to the State University of Pitesti 146 volumes. The scientific and fiction works were intended for the awarding of the authors of the papers presented at the 9th Session of scientific communications of the students of the faculties of the University of Pitesti.

02.06.2011 – On the occasion of the Feast of the Ascension and Heroes’ Day, the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation, in collaboration with the military Garrison of Buzau – Command of the 2nd Infantry Division “Getica”, organized a military and religious ceremonial with guard and band, and with laying of wreaths at the monument of general Stefan Gusa and at that of the heroes of the locality of Costesti, located at the Church founded in the village of Spataru.

On the occasion of the Ascension of the Lord – Heroes’ Day, the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, in collaboration with the Buzău Military Garrison – Command of the 2nd Infantry Division “Getica”, organized a military and religious ceremony with a guard and a band, with the laying of wreaths at the monument of General Ştefan Guşă and at the monument of the heroes of Costeşti Commune, located at the Church of the Founder in the Village of Spătaru.
Wreaths were laid by: a delegation from the family and the General Ştefan Guşă Foundation – Mrs. Guşă, the director Niculae Spiroiu, Mr. Andrei Cristian and Costin Vrabie – as well as the Command of the 2nd Infantry Division “Getica”, the Cultul Eroilor County Branch, Buzău County Prefecture, the County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the Buzău Police Inspectorate, the City Hall and the Costeşti commune General School. 07.11.2011 – 14.11.2011 – Starting from the 2010 – 2011 academic year, along with other awards and scholarships, the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation established subsistence scholarships for one student from each Military High School, Military School for Military Foremen and Non-Commissioned Officers of the General Staffs of the Forces and from the Military Technical Academies of the Land Forces, the Air Force and the Naval Forces.
The selection of the 10 military students and pupils was made – with the assistance of the Human Resources Management Directorate of the Ministry of National Defense – by the managements of the respective educational institutions based on the criteria in the Regulations of the Awards and Scholarships of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation. 20.12.2011 – On the occasion of Christmas, the Association for the Prevention of School Dropout “Saint Archdeacon Ştefan” Ghencea parish was sponsored in kind, with school supplies, sweets and food products worth 3800.00 lei. The beneficiaries are 52 children and adolescents.

Friday, April 9, 2010, a delegation of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation participated in the rank elevation ceremony of the officers graduating at the Training School for Aeronautics “Aurel Vlaicu” of Bobocu and awarded the Diploma of Excellence and the “General Stefan Gusa” prize in the amount of 1200,00 lei to lieutenant Irina-Georgiana Nita, graduating with the highest marks in the course of studies “Henri Coanda 100”. On Monday, April 12, 2010, the inauguration ceremony of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Reading Room within the Library of the “Carol I” National Defense University took place. An ultra-modern facility, which offers excellent conditions for study and bibliographic documentation with the help of the latest information technologies. It was realized through the public-private partnership between the University and the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, which donated the necessary furniture, lighting, air conditioning and IT equipment worth over 25,000 Euros.
The event also marked the 70th anniversary, on April 17, of the birth of General Ştefan Guşă, who, in his prestigious military career, was a brilliant student and cadet of the Military Academy on several occasions.
The ceremony was attended by over 50 people, generals, admirals and civilian dignitaries from the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff, the President of the National Association of Librarians Mr. Mircea Regneala, former commanders – rectors of the Military Academy and the University (General Dumitru Cioflină), members of the University Senate, the director of the Center for Strategic Studies, Mr. Moştoflei, the head of the Historical Service of the Army Commander, Mr. Marian Moşneagu, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Rear Admiral Marius Hanganu, teaching staff, media representatives from the Army Press Trust, Military Television Propatria, Flacăra Magazine, the newspapers Obsevatorul Militar, Naţiunea și Redeşteptarea, TEN TV Lugoj, etc.
On behalf of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation and the “J.C. Drăgan” European Foundation, Mr. Niculae Spiroiu, Florin Mihai, Cristian Andrei, Costin Vrabie participated.
The ceremony was opened and moderated by the Commander-Rector of the University, Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Teodor Frunzeti.
The message of Mrs. Daniela Veronica Guşă de Drăgan, president and founder of the Foundation, addressed to the participants at the ceremony was delivered by Mr. Niculae Spiroiu, director of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation.
A short religious blessing service was officiated by the University chaplain.
The Foundation offered the participants and donated to the University library and the Bucharest University Library, 30 copies of the most recent editorial publication produced under its aegis, Volume V of the “Military Attachés Transmit” series.
A glass of champagne offered by the Foundation concluded the ceremony.
The message addressed to the participants by the President of the Foundation, Ms. Daniela Veronica Guşă de Drăgan (attached), will be included in the University Agenda and entered in its Historical Register.

20.04.2010 – Under the patronage of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation there took place at the regional Library “Vasile Voiculescu” of Buzau the launch of the most recent editorial appearances under the patronage of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation, namely of the works Military Attachés Report – Vol. V and The calvary of Romanian prisoners in the First World War (three volumes). The presentation of the books was made by professor Gh. Nicolescu of the University of Pitesti. The launch took place within the scientific-cultural event organized by the “Marshal Alexandru Averescu” Foundation, which also consisted in the opening of the painting exhibition on the theme “Historical effigies” of the painter Valentin Tanase and the debate “Army and society” in which more than 150 people of the city of Buzau participated, teachers, writers, pupils, generals and active officers of the Command of the 2nd Division (generals Visarion Neagoe and Pinta) and of the paratroopers unit, war veterans, activists of the Association “The Cult of Heroes” and of the Association of Reserve and Retired Military Personnel. On behalf of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation there participated the director – general (r) Niculae Spiroiu.

06.05.2010 – On the occasion of the annual meeting of the Association of Military Diplomats “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” there took place at the National Military Circle of Bucharest the launch of the V volume of the work “Military Attachés Report”, published by “Nagard” under the patronage of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation.

13.05.2010 – On the occasion of the Feast of the Ascension and Heroes’ Day, the Foundation, in collaboration with the Garrison of Buzau organized a military and religious ceremonial at the tomb of general Stefan Gusa and the monuments of the heroes existing at the church of the village of Spataru.

On May 13, 2010, on the occasion of the Ascension Day and Heroes’ Day, the Foundation, in collaboration with the Buzău Garrison, organized a military and religious ceremony at the grave of General Ştefan Guşă and the heroes’ monuments at the church in the village of Spătaru. A guard with a military band presented the honor and wreaths were laid on behalf of the Family and the FGŞG, by Mrs. Steliana Guşă, Gen. N. Spiroiu, Eng. Andrei Cristian, Costin Vrabie, Cristian Hrior, on behalf of the Buzău Prefecture by the prefect, the Buzău garrison and the Division Command, war veterans, revolutionaries, SRI, Buzău Police, Costeşti City Hall, Gendarmerie, Spătaru School. The Bobocu Application School performed salute flights with a formation of IAR-99 Şoim aircraft.

21 – 26.06.2010 – In accordance with one of the statutory objectives of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation consisting in promoting excellence in the training-educational process taking place in the military educational institutions, three pupils with excellent school results, of the 2nd and 3rd year at the military high school Colleges “Stefan cel Mare” of Campulung Moldovenesc, “Mihai Viteazul” of Alba Iulia and “Dimitrie Cantemir” of Breaza, coming from families with limited economic possibilities, accompanied by Carmen-Cecilia Roman, professor of French language at the military College “Mihai Viteazul” benefited from a one-week prize trip in Italy (June 21-26 this year) given to them by the Foundation.

According to one of the statutory objectives of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation – to promote excellence in the formative-educational process in military educational institutions -, three students from the 10th and 11th grades of the Military Colleges “Ştefan cel Mare” – Câmpulung Moldovenesc, “Mihai Viteazul” – Alba Iulia and “Dimitrie Cantemir” – Breaza, very good at studying, coming from families with modest material possibilities, accompanied by Mrs. Carmen-Cecilia ROMAN, French Language teacher at the “Mihai Viteazul” Military College, were the beneficiaries of a Foundation Award consisting of a one-week trip (June 21-26 this year) to Italy.
The group visited the most important cultural, artistic and touristic objectives in Venice, Florence and Milan. On this occasion, they were offered souvenir gifts from the Foundation.
During the graduation festivities of the 2010 “Henri Coandă 100” promotions of the Academies, Schools and Military High Schools of the Romanian Army, which will take place during July this year, 10 graduating class leaders, officers, military foremen, non-commissioned officers and military high school graduates will receive “Diplomas of Excellence” and “General Ştefan Guşă” awards in a total value of 10,000 RON.
These programs, as well as numerous other projects, are carried out based on the “COOPERATION PROTOCOL” between the Ministry of National Defense represented by the Human Resources Management Directorate and the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation

May- June 2010 – In the months of May and June this year the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation continued to organize book presentations, this activity having begun in the 1st quarter of 2010. The V volume of the series “Military Attachés Report” and the three volumes of the series “The calvary of Romanian prisoners in the First World War”, recently appeared under the patronage and with the support of the Foundation, were thus launched at the National Military Circle on the occasion of the Conference of the Association of Military Diplomats (June 1), at the Military Circle of the garrison of Oradea (May 20) and at the Cultural Centre of the city of Mioveni in the region of Arges. On the occasion of the presentations, the Foundation donated to the libraries of the respective cultural institutions various sets of the above-mentioned volumes.

On the date of July 12, 2010, on the occasion of the certification of the results at the graduation examination of the military high school Colleges, the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation awarded Diplomas of Excellence and prizes in the amount of 500 RON to the pupils graduating with the highest marks, and namely to the following: Radu Alexa of the College “Dimitrie Cantemir” of Breaza, Adriana Milasan of the College “Mihai Viteazul” of Alba Iulia and Anamaria Munteanu of the College “Stefan cel Mare” of Campulung Moldovenesc. At the military high school College “Dimitrie Cantemir” the diploma and the prize were delivered to the most deserving pupil by general Niculae Spiroiu, director of the Foundation. As regards the other colleges, the diplomas and prizes were delivered by the respective commanders.

25.10.2010 – On the occasion of the imminent Romanian Army Day of October 25, the first quarterly tranche of the ten “General Stefan Gusa” scholarships 2010-2011 was paid to pupils of the military high school colleges and of the Military schools of military masters and non-commissioned officers, and to students of the Military Technical Academy and of the three Armed Forces Academies.
The ten pupils and students beneficiaries of the “General Stefan Gusa” scholarships were selected by the managements of the respective military educational institutions, with the support of the Human Resources Management Directorate of the Ministry of National Defence.

On the occasion of the Feast of St. Nicholas of December 6, 2010, the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation offered gifts consisting of clothing items, stationery articles, food, sweets, fruits and items for hygiene and personal cleaning to the children included in the program aimed at preventing school abandonment carried out by the Association Archdeacon St. Stephen of Bucharest, Parish of Ghencea and to the children pupils at the General School of the native village of general Stefan Gusa, Spataru, situated in the commune of Costesti. The countervalue of the donations was equal to 8810 lei for the Association of Bucharest and to 7149 Lei for the school of Spataru. On the occasion, masses were celebrated for the blessing of the donations.

22.12.2010 – To commemorate 21 years since the fall of the communist regime, a military and religious ceremonial took place at the monument and the tomb of general Stefan Gusa located at the church founded by him in the village of Spataru.

They laid wreaths and Christian memorial packages were distributed according to the Orthodox tradition. The ceremony was attended by family members, representatives of the Foundation, the county prefect and commander of the Buzău Garrison, General Nicolae Roman, the mayor of Costeşti Commune, students of the general school in the village of Spătaru, delegations of the Buzău Branch of War Veterans, the county Inspectorates of the Gendarmerie, the Police, the Romanian Intelligence Service, etc.

Moderator: Professor Virgil Simion Bui, director of the college. Speakers: Col Ioan Stan (colleague), General Popa, Col. Ioan Judea, subprefect Valentin Precup, Gl N. Spiroiu on behalf of the Foundation. The message of thanks from the president addressed to the organizers and participants was presented.

Participants: approximately 90, of which 30 students of the college. The subprefect (the prefect was at a meeting at the Government). Generals and officers from the garrison with their families, Mr. Cacoveanu, representatives from various military authorities (SRI, Mureş Gendarmerie Inspectorate…), teachers, a group of ladies from Sighisoara in national costumes..

A particularly successful, warm, moving event. 60 copies of the book “Condemned to the Truth”, brochures about the “General Stefan Gusa” foundation, folders, pens were given as gifts. It was proposed that Bd. Cetatii (formerly, for two years, Ion Antonescu) be named Bd. General Stefan Gusa. A bust should be erected on this boulevard, in front of the command of the former Tank Division. The subprefect promised to support the proposal in the local council. The Medal and Diploma of Honorary Member of the “Cultul Eroilor” Association were awarded to Ms. Daniela Veronica Gusa de Dragan for her contribution to honoring the Heroes and Martyrs of the Romanian Nation.

25.07.2009 – Participation of the representatives of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation at the celebration of 150 years of military press.
The publications coordinated by the Press Trust of the Ministry of National Defence have dedicated particular attention to the memory of lieutenant general Stefan Gusa, and to his exceptional military career. A special section “Characters in uniform”, promoted by the Foundation bearing his name, appears regularly in the editions of the weekly “Observatorul militar” whose pages have contained important “appeals to memory” regarding the man and the military Stefan Gusa. Likewise, military publications, in general, – whose origin dates back to the gazette that appeared for the first time 150 years ago, on July 23, 1859 – promote the fundamental values connected to the stability of patriotic and moral feelings, and to the strength of will of the personnel of the army and not only. It is an honour for us to count ourselves among the sponsors of this publication.

31.07.2009 – This Friday, the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation participated, as sponsor, at the celebration of Tank Troops Day at the Training School for Combat Units of the garrison of Pitesti. At the military and religious ceremonial dedicated to the 90th anniversary since the creation in 1919 of the Armoured Troops in the Romanian Army, more than 1000 people participated, active and reserve military personnel from all the garrisons of the country with tank tradition, generals of the General Staff and representatives of local authorities. The director of the Foundation, general Niculae Spiroiu, evoked the personality of the tank general Gusa Stefan and laid a wreath at the Monument of Tank Troops in front of the School.

Ziua Tanchistului 2009

Fundatia “General Stefan Gusa” a participat in calitate de sponsor ,vineri, 31 iulie 2009, la “Şcoala de Aplicaţie pentru Unităţi de Luptă” din garnizoana Piteşti la sarbatoarea Zilei Tanchistului . La ceremonial militar şi religios dedicat aniversării a 90 ani de la înfiinţarea Armei Tancuri în Armata Română – 1919 au participat peste 1000 persoane, militari activi şi în rezervă din toate garnizoanele din ţară cu tradiţie tanchistică, generali din Statul Major General şi demnitari ai autorităţilor locale –Reprezentantul fundatiei, generalul Niculae Spiroiu a evocat personalitatea generalului tanchist Gusa Stefan si a depus la Monumentul Tanchiştilor din faţa Şcolii o coroană de flori.

23 – 28 august 2009 – În perioada 23 – 28 august 2009, Universitatea Naţională de Apărare „Carol I” a organizat în parteneriat cu Fundaţia „General Ştefan Guşă”, Scoala de Vară cu tema „Dezvoltare durabilă şi Securitate”. Activitatea   s-a desfăşurat la Colegiul Militar Liceal „Dimitrie Cantemir” din oraşul Breaza, jud. Prahova.
Au participat studenţi din Academiile Categoriilor de Forţe (Academia Forţelor Terestre „Nicolae Bălcescu” – Sibiu, Academia Forţelor Aeriene „Henri Coandă” – Braşov, Academia Navală „Mircea cel Bătrân” – Constanţa, Academia Tehnică Militară) şi din „Academia de Ştiinţe Economice”, Universitatea Creştină Dimitrie Cantemir şi Universitatea „Titu Maiorescu”.

Ambii vorbitori au mulţumit Fundaţiei „General Ştefan Guşă”, personal preşedintelui fondator, Doamna Daniela Veronica Guşă de Drăgan, pentru sponsorizarea şi susţinerea acestei activităţi. Directorul Fundaţiei „General Ştefan Guşă” a prezentat mesajul preşedintelui organizaţiei si a susţinut în cadrul Şcolii un curs cu tema: „ Drepturile omului în condiţiile globalizării şi ale restaurării democratice”.

25.10.2008 – Laying of wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, on the occasion of Army Day, by a delegation of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation, composed of general N. Spiroiu and general N. Mateescu.

30.10.2008 – Participation and speech of a representative of the Foundation at the anniversary of the Armored Vehicles and Automotive Training School of Pitesti. Evocation of the figure of Gusa Stefan, former student of this school.
– Presentation, within the broadcast “The Army Hour” of Radio Romania Actualități and Radio Romania International, of the section “Characters in uniform”, dedicated to the presence of civilian and military personalities within the Romanian Army, and to some particularly relevant historical moments of the history of the latter. The themes addressed in the various episodes concern the impact that contacts with the army had on some great Romanian personalities. These medallions, elaborated especially on the basis of detailed research in the military archives, offered unpublished biographical information on scientists, writers, painters, sculptors, poets, actors, politicians, diplomats, commanders of the Romanian Army, etc., who became through their activity representative personalities of the history and culture of the Romanian people.
These aspects, generally unknown until now, shed light on unusual moments in the life of these personalities, such as, for example, the period of military service, or that in which they participated in the campaigns of 1916 – 1919 or of 1941 – 1945.
The listeners thus relived together with Camil Petrescu, Victor Ion Popa, Ion I.C. Bratianu, Gheorghe Bratianu, Ion Mihalache, Oscar Han, Ion Jalea, Mihail Sadoveanu, Matila Ghyka Costiescu, Ion Trivale, George Emil Palade, Anghel Rugina, George Vraca, Horia Hulubei, Jean Bart, etc. the dramatic moments of the war, or the sublime atmosphere of defining events of the becoming of the Romanian people, such as the Great Union of 1918. Those just mentioned are only some of the names of the long list of personalities at the center of these interesting and instructive presentations. The echoes of the activity of these people also reach Romanians abroad through the broadcast “Voices from home”, hosted by the broadcaster Radio International.

15.12.2008 – Sponsorship of the printing expenses of the journal “Rezerva Ostirii Romane”, in a print run of 700 copies.

21.12.2008 – Collaboration with the University of Pitesti for the organization of the 7th edition of the National Session of scientific communications of students, entitled “Student research in the 3rd millennium”. Awarding of the prizes of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation – consisting of writings published with the financial support of our organization – to the authors of the best communications presented at the International Session of students of the faculties of history, and at the annual Session of the students of the Faculty of Socio-Human Sciences of the same university.

21.12.2008 – Sponsorship of the printing of advertising materials, regulations and technical sheets concerning the heraldic insignia of the National Association of Reserve and Retired Military Personnel “A.I. Cuza”.

22.12.2008 – Laying of wreaths at the monument of general Stefan Gusa located in the village of Spataru. In addition to the representatives of the Foundation, also participated those of the Buzau garrison, the police, the gendarmerie, the paratroopers, SRI, war veterans, and the Association of Reserve and Retired Military Personnel, as well as children and students of the native village of the general. Veroniki Holding
