May 17, 2024 – The Ministry of National Defence organized the award ceremony of the winners of the Summer Sports Games, 2024 edition, for the training units.

Summer Sports Games 2024

The Ministry of National Defence organized the summer sports games in Brasov, from May 13 to May 17, 2024. On this occasion, as every year, the General Stefan Gusa Foundation delivered diplomas and prizes to the athletes ranked in the first three places:

First place – st. Neagu Mihaita
Second place – lt. Mihai Chiric
Third place – st.sg. Nastasa Miruna

Programs & Activities 2001

  1. Completion of the documentary fund of the Foundation with testimonies, photographs, video images regarding the life and activity of General Gușă. Organization of the archive of the Foundation.
  2. Financial support to the “Mihai Viteazul” Armored Vehicles and Automotive Training School of Pitești for the arrangement of the protocol hall.
  3. Te Deum with military ceremonial and laying of wreaths at the monument of General Stefan Gușă located at the church of the village of Spătaru, on the occasion of the anniversary of the revolutionary events of December 1989, and of the commemoration of the 7th anniversary of his death on March 28.
  4. Intensification of the interventions with the local authorities in order to obtain the approval to name after the General a major military unit, the village of Spătaru and/or a street of the Municipality of Bucharest and/or of Buzău.
  5. Presentation by various television and radio broadcasters (TVR1, Radio Romania Actualități) of books published by the Foundation, and of the scientific manifestations carried out in cooperation with other higher education institutions.
  6. Systematic promotion in various newspapers, among which “Redeșteptarea” and “Națiunea”, of books published under the patronage of the Foundation.
  7. Re-edition with the support of the Foundation of successful writings and preparation for printing of new ones, as follows:

Military Attachés Report… 1938–1944, Vol. I.

  1. Translation into Romanian and publication, with the support of the Foundation, of various writings of military history signed by foreign authors (French, German, Italian, etc.).
  2. Publication/printing under the patronage of the Foundation of writings of military history signed by foreign authors, or elaborated in collaboration with historians from other countries.
  3. Donation of works printed under the patronage of the Foundation to the libraries of the military high schools and to the faculties of history of the country.
  4. Design of the website and translation of the texts.
  5. Commissioning and donation to the church of the village of Spătaru of a carved wooden iconostasis.
  1. Within an exercise held on April 25 in the area of Spătaru, 90 copies of the following works were donated to the military personnel of U.M. 02470:

The Chiefs of the Romanian General Staff (1859–2000).
Romanian Contributions to Aeronautics at the Beginning of the 20th Century.
A Wanderer through the Mists in His Own Country.
Romanian–German Military Relations.
Priests Fighting for the Great Union, 1916–1919.
The Romanian Army from the Ultimatum to the Dictate. Year 1940 (Vol. I, II and III).

The manifestation was preceded by a ceremonial of laying of wreaths and bouquets of flowers at the tomb and at the monument of General Stefan Gușă, in the locality of Spătaru.
At the event took part representatives of the Foundation, active and reserve military personnel, and soldiers of U.M. 02470 of Buzău.

  1. On May 24, on the occasion of the military ceremonial of laying of wreaths and bouquets of flowers at the tomb and at the monument of General Stefan Gușă located in the courtyard of the church of Spătaru, the Foundation donated to the participants 104 copies of the work The Chiefs of the Romanian General Staff (1859–2000).
    The manifestation took place on the occasion of Heroes’ Day (Ascension Day) in Spătaru, Buzău County.
    Participants: military personnel of the Buzău garrison, the prefect and the deputy prefect of the respective county, representatives of the local municipality, and inhabitants of Spătaru.
  2. During May–June, there were donated and sent to the libraries of 58 Military Circles existing in the garrisons of the country, two copies of the work The Romanian Army from the Ultimatum to the Dictate. Year 1940, and one copy of the following writings: Priests Fighting for the Great Union, 1916–1919, Romanian–German Military Relations, 1939–1944, and The Chiefs of the Romanian General Staff (1859–2000).
  3. Granting of the necessary financial support for the arrangement of a protocol hall bearing the name “General Stefan Gușă”, within the “Mihai Viteazul” Armored Vehicles and Automotive Training School of Pitești.
  1. Realization of marble plaques bearing the names of the graduates with highest marks and of the commanders of the “Mihai Viteazul” Armored Vehicles and Automotive Training School of Pitești.
  1. Publication in the Argesul newspaper no. 3199 of the review of the book Priests in the Trenches. 1941-1944, edited by the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation. (view image)
  2. On June 20, 2001, the “Military History Magazine” Awards were awarded for the most valuable historical works that saw the light of day in 2000.

  1. In July, a carved and painted oak icon was donated to the church in Spătaru, Buzău County.
  2. In August, the work “Military Attachés Transmit… 1939-1945” saw the light of day with the support of our foundation. A print run of 1060 copies was printed, of which 150 copies were donated to the authors. (view image)
  3. On 02.08.2001, a new review of the book “Priests in the Trenches. 1941-1944”, edited by the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, was published in “Ecart”, the supplement of the newspaper “Economistul”, no. 137. (view image)

  5. On 18.09.2001, the review of the book “Military Attachés transmit… 1938-1944”, published under the aegis of the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, was published in the newspaper Naţiunea Serie nouă, no. 114(580), year XII. (view image)
  6. On October 13, during the scientific communications session of the Municipal Museum of Câmpulung, the launch of the book “Military Attachés transmit… 1938-1944” published under the aegis of the foundation took place. 50 copies of the work were distributed to the participants: the Mayor of Câmpulung Municipality, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, of the Argeş Directorate of Culture, Religious Affairs and Cultural Heritage, researchers, teachers, museographers, students, pupils.
  7. 17.09.2001-announcement on TVR 1, during the “Morning News” program, of the publication of the book “Military Attachés Transmit… 1938-1944”, published by the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation
  8. Launching of the book “Military Attachés Transmit… 1938-1944” at the National Military Circle on 17.09.2001. 80 copies of the work were distributed free of charge to the participants in the event: foreign military attachés, generals, officers from the Ministry of National Defense, war veterans, etc. The book was presented by Colonel (ret) Dr. Alesandru Duţu
  9. 22.09.2001-presentation of the book “Military Attachés transmit… 1938-1944” on the Romania radio station, within the Romania Actualități program
  10. Launching on 16.10.2001, within the Prahova History and Archaeology Museum, of the books “Priests fighting for the Great Union 1916-1919” and “Military Attachés transmit.. 1938-1944” within the scientific session organized by the Ministry of Interior, the Directorate of Public Relations, Traditions, Education and Sports, the Hans Seidel Foundation, the Civil Protection Command and the Civil Protection Magazine.

40 copies of each work were distributed free of charge to the participants:

representatives of the Prahova Prefecture, the commander of the Ploieşti Garrison, the Ministry of the Interior, the Civil Protection Command, researchers, museographers, teachers, students, military personnel. The presentation of the books was made by historians prof. univ. dr. Gheorghe Buzatu, prof. univ. dr. Valeriu FI. Dobrinescu and commander ( r ). dr. Ilie Manole

  1. Donation in November of one copy of the work “Priests in the Fight for the Great Union 1916-1919” and 3 copies of the work “Priests in the Trenches” to 14 faculties of theology and 38 theological seminaries in the country.
  2. Donation of 2 copies of the works published by the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation to libraries of military and civilian institutions, universities and museums.
  3. Carrying out preparatory work for the compilation and publication of the study volume “New Research Perspectives in Military Historiography”. The edition will be produced in French, in collaboration with historians from France, England, Germany and Romania.

On December 22, 2023, at the monument of General Stefan Gusa in the local church of Spataru, a religious and military ceremony was held to celebrate the “Day of the Victory of the Romanian Revolution and Freedom”.

Representatives of the Prefecture of Buzau, the Municipality of Costesti, and the General Stefan Gusa Foundation participated in the ceremony. After the religious service and the presentation of honors by the soldiers of the Buzau garrison, wreaths were laid.

On this occasion and on the occasion of the winter holidays, the students of the General School of the town of Spataru received gifts from the Foundation (provisions, toys, sweets and fruit). Food packages were also distributed to families with social difficulties in the town of Spataru.

The General Stefan Gusa Foundation, during the ceremony of September 26, 2023, at the Aula Magna of the National Defence University “Carol I”, awarded the Diploma of Excellence and the Prize for Scientific Research in the field of National Defence for the work “SEVER BOCU (1874–1951) A LIFE – AN IDEAL – A DESTINY”, prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Florian Bichir and Prof. Dr. Horia Dumitrescu.

Ascension of the Lord – Heroes’ Day 2023

On the occasion of the Ascension Day – Heroes’ Day, the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation, in collaboration with the military garrison of Buzau, organized a military and religious ceremony with the laying of wreaths at the monument of General Stefan Gusa and the monument of the Heroes of the Village located at the Church of the village of Spataru, founded by General Stefan Gusa.

Representatives of the Prefecture and the Local Council of Buzau, the Municipality of Costesti, and the Coronita ensemble, supported by the General Stefan Gusa Foundation, also participated in the celebration, laying a wreath and presenting an artistic moment.

March 5, 2023 – The Ministry of National Defence organized the award ceremony of the winners of the Winter Sports Games for training units

The General Stefan Gusa Foundation, during the ceremony of November 3, 2022 at the National Defence University “Carol I”, awarded the Diploma of Excellence and the Prize for Scientific Research in the field of National Defence to Col. Instr. Adv. Patru Parjol, for the work “Passive radio localization and air surveillance in the 21st century”.

 

December 6, 2022 – On December 6, 2022, the children of the Spataru school received gifts on the occasion of the winter holidays.

From July 5 to 12, 2019, as every year since 2010, there took place the trip organized by the Foundation for 10 students of the high schools with military profile of the country. This year benefited from this prize: Raduta Andrei, Coran Raluca, Iorga Biancaca, Cristea Robert, Nichiteanu Dan, Duracu Miruna, Paraschivescu Stefan, Stefanescu Stefania, Postolachi Ana Maria, Rilea Petru. The cities of Florence, Venice, Milan were visited.

On December 22, 2019, in the church of Spataru, founded by general Stefan Gusa, there took place the military and religious ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of the Romanian revolution of December 1989, at which the Foundation, the prefect of the county, the commander of the Buzau garrison, the municipality of Costesti and the general school “General Stefan Gusa” of the village of Spataru laid wreaths of flowers. Saturday, February 18 this year at Vatra Dornei there took place the closing ceremony of the final phase at the Ministry of National Defence of the military ski championship for training units, held from February 15 to 17, 2017. On this occasion there were delivered the diplomas and prizes of the “General Ştefan Guşă”. There were distributed the funds in the amount of 2400,00 lei, awarded to the athletes ranked in the first three places in the competition events: the first classified, corporal Dumitru Moisan of the land troops; in second place corporal Daniel Beldungam of the Communications Command; Third classified, corporal Marius Costiuc of the Air Force. In the weekly of the Army “Observatorul Militar” no. 8, page 8 there appeared the news on the amount of the prizes and diplomas conferred by the Foundation.

Ascension of the Lord – Heroes’ Day

Thursday, May 25, 2017, on the occasion of Ascension Day-Heroes’ Day, the “General Ştefan Guşă” Foundation, in collaboration with the military garrison of Buzău – Command of the 2nd infantry division “Getica”, organized a military and religious ceremony with honour guard and brass band, with laying of wreaths at the monument of general Ştefan Guşă and at the monument of the heroes of the village situated in the church of his foundation in the village Spataru, commune of Costeşti. 300 commemorative packages were distributed to the participants.

They laid the wreaths: a delegation of the family and of the General Ştefan Guşă Foundation formed by General Spiroiu Niculae – former colleagues – and Mr. Costin Vrabie; Major General Foca, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division “Getica”, Section of the Cult of Heroes, Prefecture and County Council of Buzau, Municipality and General School of Costeşti. Inhabitants of the village, reserve officers and relatives participated.

Between July 23 and 30, 2017 there took place the group of students of the National Military Colleges, beneficiaries of the prize “Trip to Italy” of the “General Stefan Gusa” Foundation. The group was formed by the students: PANA Elena-Lorena and CRISTEA Razvan-Constantin of the National Military College “Dimitrie Cantemir”: ION Roberta and OPREAN-HURDUC Andrei, of the National Military College “Mihai Viteazul”; CURIC Bianca and ANDRONACHE Dumitru-Octavian of the National Military College “Stefan cel Mare”: PALAGHIA Irina-Maria and IONESCU George-Valentin of the College “Tudor Vladimirescu” under the direction of Prof. Carmen-Cecilia ROMAN. Cultural and tourist objectives of the cities of Milan and Venice were visited.

Grupul Drăgan a luat naștere în anul 1948, odată cu înființarea ButanGas SpA în Italia. În prezent activitatea Grupului Drăgan este coordonată de Veroniki Holding, structură unică de coordonare, fondată în acest sens, în anul 2010, de către doamna Daniela Veronica Gușă de Drăgan.
